We're nearing the time of the year when people start compiling year-end lists to remind you of all of the really awesome crap from the past year you probably have forgotten about.
So why not get started with this year's hottest new WAGs?
Sure, at some point someone will tell you about which movies were the year's best, or which interviews on Conan they thought were the funniest, or who their favorite Bleacher Report writer was (hint: his last name rhymes with clap).
But you want to know which WAGs made the sports world go, "Holy hannah, I wish I was the dude dating her" this year.
And you've come to the right place.
Shakira and Gerard Pique
The WAG world is a better place with Shakira, who is dating Barcelona FC's Gerard Pique.
Even if she does sound a little like Kermit the Frog when she sings.
Ana Ivanovic and Adam Scott
She's back!
It's been a topsy-turvy run for WAG fans, as Ana Ivanovic and Adam Scott have been in an on-again, off-again relationship for awhile now.
But it's on once more, meaning we can once again include Ivanovic in all WAG articles!
And thank goodness for that.
Eva Longoria and Matt Barnes
The rumors started two weeks ago after Longoria was spotted picking up Barnes at the airport, though the two deny the rumors.
I think we would all love to see Longoria back in the WAG game—it hasn't been the same without her.
Olivia Munn and Brad Richards
Nerd fans, well, I'm sorry that a jock stole one of the queens of nerdom. We've still got Felicia Day...
Anyway, Munn is apparently dating Brad Richards of the New York Rangers, and the team at one point was 6-0 apparently because she was some sort of good luck charm or something, and damnit athletes, stop poaching hot nerd chicks.
Hayden Panettiere and Scotty McKnight
Has it been a good or bad year for Scotty McKnight? You be the judge. From The Huffington Post:
Hayden Panettiere took in some NFL action this past weekend with new flame, and New York Jet, Scotty McKnight during the Sunday afternoon game at Met Life Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ.
Panettiere and McKnight sat front row for the Jets battle against the Buffalo Bills. Panettiere's wide receiver boyfriend was placed on the practice-squad injured reserve with a knee injury in early November, but it doesn't look like he seems torn up about missing the action on the field.
Also, noting that "It doesn't look like he seems torn up" after noting his knee injury is just bad. And that's coming from a shameless abuser of puns like me.
Michelle Trachtenberg
Trachtenberg wins this year's award for "WAG who might not actually have ever been a WAG but keeps being rumored to be a WAG with different athletes so she's a WAG, damn it!"
We really need to find a more concise name for that award.
Anyhow, Trachtenberg has been rumored to be dating both hockey player Brandon Prust and basketball player Danilo Gallanari in the past year.
Even if you were never officially a WAG, we're glad to have you nonetheless, Michelle.
Kelly Kelly and Sheldon Souray
It's possible that you don't know who either of these people are. Kelly Kelly is the smoking hot WWE Diva you see above.
Sheldon Souray is a defencemen for the Dallas Stars, and the two were outed as a couple when they kissed after Kelly Kelly's match in August's WWE Summer Slam.
To recap: Souray got to watch his smoldering girlfriend wrestle in a ring with another woman before she came over to his seat and planted a big ol' kiss on him.
Not a bad way to spend an evening.
Kelsi Reich and David Nelson
The Dallas Cowboys beat the Bills in two Super Bowls, cut Terrell Owens before he spent one forgettable season in Buffalo and trounced them 44-7 when the two teams met this year.
I can't imagine Bills' fans are terribly fond of the Cowboys.
But be proud, ye Buffalo faithful, that one of your own—wide receiver David Nelson—snagged one of the illustrious cheerleaders of "America's Team," Kelsi Reich. In a game in which Buffalo turned the ball over four times, at least they could say they had one very hot interception.
Natalie Gulbis and Dustin Johnson
This one was strange.
First, Gulbis said that she and Johnson were indeed dating back in January. Only a few days later, Johnson came out and said that, nope, the two were not dating.
Nothing says "I love you" like squashing relationship talk after your girlfriend started it in the first place.Then again, nothing says "creepy" like starting relationship talk before both parties agree that it is in fact a relationship. This one could go either way.
One way or another, it's such a romantic story, isn't it?
Shannon James and Hunter Pence
The world of WAGdom always gets a little bit better when a Playboy playmate enters the ranks.
And thus, we can thank Phillies' outfielder Hunter Pence for ushering Shannon James into the wonderful world of WAGs.
Now if only Pence could help the Phillies win another World Series...
Jessie James and Eric Decker
Jessie James is a singer, just in case you were wondering. Hence the music video.
And Eric Decker is a wide receiver for the Denver Broncos having one hell of a year. Not only does he have 37 catches for 527 yards and eight touchdowns as Tim Tebow's favorite receiver—which is sort of like a Yankees fan having a favorite player on the Red Sox, but bear with me—but he is also dating the sultry singer you see above.
His year of good catches continues on.
Caroline Wozniacki and Rory McIlroy
If there was an ESPN The Magazine NEXT issue for athlete couples, then Wozniacki and McIlroy would certainly grace the cover. Wozniacki is only 21 and is currently the top-ranked tennis player in the world, while McIlroy is 22 and the second-ranked golfer in the world.
It won't be long before they take over the world.
Ella Magers and Alex Rodriguez
Is A-Rod still dating his trainer, Ella Magers? Were they ever even an official item? Do you care?
She was all over the papers as A-Rod's newest WAG a month ago, so we include her on this list. You can never have enough WAGs, after all.
